Carl Porter Rites Friday
Prairie City – Funeral services for Carl Porter, 95, a longtime resident of the Prairie City and Runnells communities will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Walters Funeral Home at Prairie City.
The Rev. Walter Goughnour, minister of the Prairie City Christian Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery.
Mr. Porter died Tuesday at Gardner Custodian Home in Colfax.
Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Louisa (Dolly) Calvert of Newton and a brother, William of Newton.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1906 and five sisters.
Mr. Porter, a retired farmer, was a member of the Prairie City Christian Church.
The son of Albert and Elizabeth Porter, he was born June 3, 1870 at Greenfield, Ohio, and moved with his parents to the Prairie City, Runnells area when a child.
He was married to Mary Lowe Feb. 1, 1900 at Runnells.
