Luella Crabtree Dies at Hospital; Rites Thursday
Mrs. Grant (Luella) Crabtree, 86, of Ira, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Monday afternoon at the Skiff Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Morgan-Loehr Funeral Home.
The Rev. Austin Rugger, associate minister of the First Methodist Church, will conduct the services.
Burial will be in Union Chapel Cemetery at Ira.
Mrs. Crabtree will lie in state at the funeral home after 3 p.m. today.
Survivors are a brother, John Goodell of Newton and a nephew, Guy Porter of Minneapolis, Minn.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, and two sisters.
Mrs. Crabtree was a member of the Ira Methodist Church.
Mrs. Crabtree, who resided on a farm near Ira all of her life, taught rural school for many years.
The daughter of Rufus and Elizabeth Porter Goodell, she was born Nov. 11, 1877 near Ira and attended Jasper County schools and Hazel Dell Academy.
