William J. Byal Dies at Hospital; Rites Thursday
Colfax – William J. Byal, 94, of Colfax, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died this morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Walters Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Anthony Pettrone, minister of the Colfax Christian Church, will conduct the services. Burial will be at Union Chapel Cemetery near Ira.
Memorial contributions to the Union Chapel Cemetery or the Colfax Christian Church will be accepted.
Mr. Byal is survived by a daughter, Wilda Byal of Colfax; two sons, Roscoe W. and Hugh D. Byal, both of Mingo; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Byal was a 67-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
The son of William and Margaret Byal, he was born Feb. 15, 1870 at Mingo.
Educated in Mingo and Collins schools, he was married to Mittie A. Miller Feb. 8, 1898 at Mingo.
Mr. Byal farmed in the Mingo and Colfax area. He moved to Colfax in 1936.
