Francisse Y. Buckingham, age 94 of Prairie City, passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021, in Urbandale. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 10:30 am at Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City. Burial will take place at Griffis Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday also beginning at 9:30 am at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Prairie City Church of the Brethren 10172 Highway F70 W. Francisse was born to Claude and M. Genevieve Trombley on February 7, 1927, in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Francisse's father was a pastor and an evangelist for the Church of the Brethren. When her father pastored the Church of the Brethren in Prairie City, she met Samuel Buckingham. They were married March 9th of 1946. They would be blessed with 4 daughters and over 70 years of marriage. On January 6, 2017, Sam went home to be with the Lord and their two daughters in heaven, Claudia and Barbara.

For many years, Francisse served her husband and family on the farm with her milking cows, selling eggs and gardening. She was a seamstress for her family, friends, Clearview Manor and also for Brother's Keeper. She blessed her family with her creativity including her paintings and drawings and much more. Francisse helped her church by working with the Red Cross and FEMA. She traveled to disaster sites across the United States and cared for children at those sites while parents cleaned up properties and filed insurance claims. Francisse enjoyed her family, her church, Bible study, music, crafts and bingo.

Those left to honor her memory include two daughters, Yvonne (Ron) Waddle and Cinda (Marv) Schut. Francisse had a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren -she loved them all. She also loved her nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law, Betty Buckingham. She enjoyed talking to them or hearing about them. She was a prayer warrior for her family and church and country. If you were with her long, you were hugged, prayed for and told I Love You. The family also wants to extend special thanks to three dear friends of Francisse: Patti Evans, Ann Beetner, and Mary Berry. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband and two daughters. She also outlived her two brothers, Fred (Elda) Trombley and Charlie (Mary) Trombley and her sister, Evelyn (Ray) Ladd.
