Valeria M. Raymie, 92, a resident at the Newton Health Care Center, died of heart failure Tuesday morning, Jan. 14, at the care center.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Ed Aubuchon, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Newton, officiating. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home today where the family will be present from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Memorials in her name will be accepted.
Born March 4, 1904, in Hocking, she was the daughter of Robert Miller and Jennie Beatrice Meek Holmes. She attended Hocking schools.
She married Frank Raymie July 17, 1920 in Ottumwa.
Mrs. Raymie had lived in the Hocking and Lovilia areas before moving to Newton in 1926.
She worked as a waitress and was employed at Spurgeons, Montgomery Wards for many years and in the meat department at Hy-Vee. She was also a member of the First Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Jack Livingston of Vacaville, Calif., a grandchild, two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died March 8, 1983; a sister, Mary Souply; three brothers, Thomas, Archie and Gilbert Holmes; a half-brother, Willie Hill; and a half-sister, Agnes Hill.
