1928-2021

Lenard Peisha Pierce, age 93 of Colfax, passed from his earthly home to his eternal home in Heaven on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Newton Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 10:00 am at First Baptist Church in Colfax. Burial will take place at McKeever Cemetery. Visitation for Lenard will be held on Sunday, December 26, 2021 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at the First Baptist Church in Colfax. Memorials may be directed to the Colfax Firefighters Association or the church. Condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com

The son of Faye and Margaret (Lynch) Pierce, Lenard was born on November 9, 1928 in Lisbon, Iowa. On February 20, 1947, he was united in marriage to Joyce Wadsworth in Des Moines. To this union, seven children were born. Lenard farmed northwest of Colfax and worked full time at Maytag Company. Lenard retired from Maytag in May of 1982 after 30 years of service. He was active in the Jasper County Farm Bureau, Mitchellville Co-op Board, and Kiwanis for many years. Lenard was a 57 year member of the First Baptist Church of Colfax. Lenard loved teasing his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His favorite pastime was farming and working cattle with his children and grandchildren, going to the sale barns and auctions. He never met a stranger, often inviting people in for coffee or dinner.

Those left to honor his memory, are his wife (of 74 years and 10 months) Joyce of Colfax; children, Lenis (Gene) Steenhoek of Prairie City, Douglas (Marilyn) Pierce, Denise (Mark) Bell, Craig Pierce, Diane (Dave) Stoecker, Jeff (Laurie) Pierce, Lori (J.D.) Smith all of Colfax; grandchildren, Tonya (Jeff) Nicholson, Erika (Mark) Earles, Matt (Erica) Pierce, Jessica Pierce, James Stoecker, Kristen Stoecker, Nick (Katie) Pierce, Alex Pierce, A.J. Pierce, Caleb Smith, Keagan (Alea) Smith, Nate (Autumn) Smith; great grandchildren, Brooke and Brian Nicholson, Kendall and Joe Earles, Devan (Sarah) Pierce, Ashley Pierce, Ben, Sadie and Abby Pierce, and Asher James Smith on the way.

Lenard was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Gertrude Warrick, Irene Warrick and Wilma Hill, and eight brothers William, LeRoy, Melvin, Park, Gene, Willis, Merle Dean and Robert and daughter-in-law, Lola (Lester) Pierce.
