Kristin Dawn Brock, 58 of rural Monroe died Monday, November 22nd at Des Moines Mercy.
The daughter of L.D. and Shirley Modlin, Kristi was born August 30th, 1963.
A 1981 graduate of Newton High School. Kristi excelled in multiple sports. Soon after high school, Kristi hopped on her future husband’s Harley and took off for a 40 year ride. After several adventures which included two trips to Mexico on bus, train, hitchhiking and even driving an old camper to Belize, Guatemala and the Yucatan Peninsula. Kristi settled on the family farm. She was a natural at raising cattle, driving tractors and trucks, and jumping 4-wheelers. Always pulling a new talent from her back pocket, Kristi grew vegetables, flowers, trees and her gigantic grasses that she assured would never escape to the farm fields. Kristi’s skills in the kitchen were legendary and no one went away hungry.
But the highlight of Kristi’s life was giving birth and nurturing her 3 sons Joseph, Ragan and Will, with energy, generosity and attention that never gave out. She even broke the gender barrier coaching her sons little league teams to winning seasons.
Kristi is survived by her husband Joe, sons Ragan (Mal Cox) Joseph, Will, mother Shirley, brothers Kevin, Galen and their families.
Per Kristi’s request, no services will be held.
