George Robert Jarnagin, 84, a lifelong resident of the Newton community, died Friday at the University Hospitals at Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Toland Funeral. Home. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery at Vandalia.
Mr. Jarnagin is survived by his wife; two sons, Forest Jarnagin of Newton and Charles Jarnagin of Denver, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Fern Johnston of San Bernadino, Calif., Mrs. Clyde (Wilma) Waters of Monroe and Mrs. Garrett (Erma) Vander Schel of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jarnagin was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
The son of Wesley and Catherine Hetherington Jarnagin, he was born Nov. 16, 1877 in Jasper County.
He was married to Anna Carnahan Dec. 23, 1903 at Galesburg.
A retired farmer, Mr. Jarnagin had resided for the past four years at Shaw’s Rest home.
