Jay Henry Jensen, 51, of Newton died on Sunday, November 14, 2021, at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m., Friday, November 19, 2021, at the Izaak Walton League. Following the visitation a celebration of life will continue at the Ike’s. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jay’s name (checks made payable to Jenny) may be left at the Ike’s during the visitation or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Jay, the son of Henry and Donna (Ruby) Jensen, was born on August 9, 1970, in Newton. He was a lifelong resident of Newton; graduating from Newton High School in 1988. Jay was united in marriage with Jenny Owens on October 21, 2000, in Kellogg. He owned and operated his family’s masonry business, Jensen Construction. Jay was a member of the Izaak Walton League. He loved to be outdoors; hunting, fishing, boating, and sitting around the campfire with family and friends while camping. Jay also liked to travel, play video games in the winter months, and hang out with his dogs, Bruno and Charley.

Jay is survived by his wife, Jenny Jensen of Newton; two children, James (Jenny) Jensen and Henry Jensen, both of Newton; his grandchildren, LJ Jensen and Kayden Jensen; sister, Christine Blomgren of Ankeny; and his extended family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vandi Jensen; and brother-in-law, Douglas Blomgren.
