Margaret Lou Synhorst. 99, of Newton, passed Friday morning, November 12, 2021, at Park Centre in Newton, under the care of Hospice.

Funeral services for Margaret will be at a later date, at the First United Methodist Church in Newton. Pence – Reese Funeral Home in Newton, have been entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation will be just prior to the services for an hour, at the church. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are being designated to Margaret's family, to First United Methodist Church or the Good Samaritan Fund at Park Centre, and may be left at the church or funeral home.

Margaret, the daughter of John Webb and Mabel (Reed) McNeely, was born August 10, 1922, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She graduated from the Muskogee Senior High School, Class of 1940.

On Jan. 27, 1946, Margaret was united in marriage with John Paul Synhorst in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A longtime resident of the Newton area, she was active in First United Methodist Church in Newton, where she had devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed reading, bridge, golf, enjoyed traveling, vacations across the United States with her family, cruises, trips to Hawaii, winters in Arizona, and annual trips to North Long Lake in Minnesota. Margaret was a kind- and warm-hearted lady and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John on August 20, 2012; and a sister-in-law Betty Pittman.

Those left to honor Margaret's memory include her two daughters: Chris (Bob) Lewis of Des Moines and Paula West of Brainerd, Minnesota; grandsons: Matt (Kelly) Ripley and John Lewis and granddaughter Erin (Ryan) Krois; great grandsons: Jacob and Tyler Krois and Blake and Connor Ripley; sister-in-law June (Roy) Taylor of Peoria, Arizona and brother-in-law Fred Pittman of Newton; and her many good neighbors and friends.
