Nellie Bowers, 75, Dies at Hospital; Services Tuesday
Prairie City – Funeral services for Mrs. Fred (Nellie) Bowers, 75, of Altoona, a former resident of the Prairie City and Runnells areas will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Altoona Methodist Church.
The Rev. Richard Bentzinger of the church will conduct the services. Burial will be in Vandalia Cemetery.
Walters Funeral Home at Prairie City is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bower is survived by her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Mary Smith of Des Moines, Mrs. Gladys Hargis of Ankeny and Mrs. Grace Meister of Altoona; three sons, Clarence of Mitchellville, Lloyd of Bondurant and George of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Martha Bowers of Pleasantville; and a brother, Roy Booth of Runnells.
Mrs. Bowers died Sunday at the Broadlawns General hospital in Des Moines.
The daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Robert Booth, she was born Dec. 29, 1886 at Prairie City.
She attended Prairie City and Vandalia schools and was married Dec. 28, 1964 to Fred Bowers.
They resided in the Prairie City and Runnells areas until moving to Altoona in 1948.
Mrs. Bowers was a member of the Altoona Methodist Church and Rebekah Lodge.
