Services Held Saturday For Lowman Miller, 88
Funeral services for Lowman Miller, 88, were held Saturday, April 22nd at the Vandalia Church of Christ. Mr. Miller, a lifelong resident of the Vandalia community, died Thursday afternoon, April 20th, at the Clear View Manor in Prairie City.
The Rev. Alex Grossnickle was the minister in charge of the services. Morris Keeney was soloist singing “Beyond the Sunset” and “Good Night and Good Morning”.
Serving as casket bearers were LeRoy DeReus, David Hershey, Dwight Miller, Jerry Miller, Robert Miller and LeRoy Rosborough.
Mrs. Melvin De Moss, Mrs. Henry Lovell and Mrs. William Van Maanen were in charge of the floral tributes.
Burial was made in the Vandalia Cemetery.
The son of George and Aliza Hull Miller, Lowman Miller was born April 17, 1879 at Vandalia.
He was married to Cora May Fleming Feb. 8, 1905 at Ivy. She died March 6, 1957.
A retired farmer, Mr. Miller resided in the Vandalia area all of his life.
He was a member of the Vandalia Church of Christ.
Survivors are his eight children; Mrs. Viola Wicker of Des Moines, Mrs. Merle Mahaffy of Milo; Lawrence of Hutchison, Kan.; Kenneth of Runnells; Everett of Otley; Cecil of Runnells; Mrs. Anna Parrott of Princeton and Mrs. Dorothy Tratchel of Killduff. Also surviving are 46 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
A brother, J. C. Miller of Vandalia; and a sister, Mrs. Alsina Stewart of Des Moines also survive.
