T. A. Hughes Dies At His Home Here
T. A. Hughes, negro, died at his home in North Newton this morning at 3:45 o’clock with pneumonia.
He has been failing all winter but was not confined to his bed until last week.
Mr. Hughes was born in Richmond, Virginia, in 1865 and has lived in Newton for twenty-seven years. He is survived by his widow, his mother, Mrs. Mahia Battles, and six children, Tweydell, of Indianapolis; Mrs. Louis Thorn, and the four children at home, Clarence, Celia, LeRue, and Thomas; four sisters, Mrs. Eliza Brodess, of Iowa City, Mrs. Lousinda Plummer, Mrs. Susie Baldwin and Mrs. Angelina Gibson of Clarinda.
No funeral arrangements have yet been announced.
