Mrs. Mary Jane Walker, wife of A. J. Walker, living about four miles northwest of Colfax died Tuesday, February 23, after a sickness of about three years from cancer of the stomach. Mrs. Walker was born October 15, 1848 in Ohio, and moved to Iowa and the neighborhood in which she died almost 50 years. Her maiden name was McGuestion (sic, should be McQuiston). She married Mr. Walker forty-two years ago. To them were born eight children, five of them with the husband mourn the death of mother and wife.

Mary Jane wife of Alex J. Walker died last Tuesday at the family residence northwest of Colfax, in her 69th year, a victim of cancer of the stomach. During a married life of forty-two years she had lived on the farm whence she passed away, and there her eight children (five of whom survive with her husband) were born. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Miles, on Wednesday, from the home and the internment was at the McKeever cemetery.
