In her active years, Mrs. Turner took a prominent part in community affairs and in a quiet way gave leadership for all the better things. She had a faculty of making lasting friends and was dearly loved by her neighbors and friends.
Minnie Linda Westfall, daughter of Lee C. and Jane Poling Westfall, was born near Monroe, Iowa, on April 25th, 1872, the third in a family of five, a sister and three brothers all of whom preceded her in death.
In 1890 she married Edward S. Turner of Colfax, Ia. To this union were born three children, a son, Harold, who died in infancy, and two daughters, Mrs. Nelle Weirick of Colfax, and Mrs. Mary Burton, ___ (text missing) ___children, survive her.

She was a charter member and first president of the Poweshiek Township women’s Cub. Also a member of Chapter BA of the P.E.O. sisterhood, and of Rose of Sharon Chapter No. 9, Order of the Eastern Star.
Several years after the death of her husband in 1931, Mrs. Turner moved to Newton where she enjoyed an apartment at Hotel Maytag until her health failed in 1944.
Most of the last ten years of her life have been spent with Mrs. Lillian Nelson in Newton.
During the time of her residence in Newton, she joined the Presbyterian church in that city under the pastorate of Dr. James Bean, later transferring her membership to the First Presbyterian church in Colfax.
Her disposition and talents may well be measured by a poem which she wrote many years ago.
