Mrs. L. E. C. Vernocom died at the home of her son, Hugh, in Poweshiek township last Saturday after a lingering illness from dropsy. Funeral services were conducted by Dr. Perry Engle, who is a disciple of Free Thought. Mrs. Vernocom was formerly Miss Sarah Mackey and has been a resident of this county most of her life. She was 66 years old. Her husband and one son survive her.
