Monroe – Funeral service for William De Joode, 67, of Monroe, were held today, Nov. 25, at the Presbyterian Church in Monroe.
The Rev. Tom Bass, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Walters-Coburn Funeral home in Monroe handled arrangements.
He died Thursday at Knoxville Area Community Hospital.
Survivors are a son, Arnold of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Linda (Mrs. Jeff) Nelson of Council Bluffs, Karen (Mrs. Chuck) Becker of Anamosa and Donna (Mrs. Ron) Hawkins of St. Peters, Mo.; and three grandchildren.
Also surviving are four brothers, Tony and Andy, both of Knoxville, Ben of Monroe and Barney of Pleasantville; and two sisters, Gertrude Sage of Knoxville and Jeanette Bogert of Spokane, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gladys March 7, 1980, five brothers, Art, Guert, Arie, Casey and John, and a sister, Jennie Medvid.
Mr. De Joode, an Army veteran of World War II, had been district sales manager for Golden Sun Feeds of Grinnell.
The son of William and Gertrude Snetselaar De Joode, he was born Aug. 23, 1924 in Perry.
He was married to Lois Brockmeyer and April 20, 1973 to Gladys Sheeler in Pella.
