Thelma Alta Borts Zillion, 85, of Newton Health Care Center, a resident of Newton since November, 1926, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, at the Center.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. Jerry Brown, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials in her name will be accepted.
Survivors are many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charles, June 12, 1979, seven brothers and two sisters.
Mrs. Zillion was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge, past president of the American Legion Auxiliary and a former member of the Newton Order of Eastern Star Chapter 100.
A former teacher, she had worked at the Firestone Store, J. C. Penney Co., The Newton Daily News and during World War II, at the Maytag Co.
The daughter of Hamilton Love and Ida Belle Miller Borts, she was born Oct. 5, 1906 in Valeria, was graduated from Colfax Community High School and Drake University and AIB, both of Des Moines.
She was married to Charles J. Zillion Nov. 24, 1926 in Des Moines.
