Walter Beard Services Held Dec. 23
Walter Beard, 71, of Colfax died of a heart ailment Saturday, December 21, at Skiff medical Center in Newton.
Services were held Monday, December 23, at 2 p.m., at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery, with military honors by Jones-Willis Post of the American Legion in Colfax.
Services were conducted by the Rev. David McNeeley, pastor of the Assembly of God Church. The organist was Eleanor Howell.
Casket bearers were Steven Wells, Michael Agan, Jon Lloyd, Mark Koder, Andrew Conn and Andrew Conn, Jr.
Mr. Beard was born in Mingo and had lived in the Colfax area most of his life. He was a retired power lineman for Iowa Power and later for L. E. Myers Co. and was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors are his wife, Helen; five daughters, Loretta Heiden and Karen Lloyd, both of Colfax, Sharon Wells of Newton, Ellen Agan of Lacona and Carol Willis of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a sister, Lorena Conn of Colfax; four brothers, Mike and Robert, both of Mingo, Merle of California, and Francis of Arizona; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
