Sheila Lou (Pyle) Smith was born Aug. 15, 1946, in Newton, to Albert Pyle and Elaine (McKeag) Pyle. She grew up in Newton, and the West Plains, Mo., area. She was a graduate of Newton High School. Growing up, Sheila was very close to her grandmother, Pearl McKeag.
Sheila married Ron Smith July 3, 1976. They enjoyed 45 years together.
In 2015, Sheila retired from Hansen Directory in Newton, after which she and Ron moved to Russell. She had many hobbies including watching Nascar and going to the races, cross-stitching, crossword puzzles, going to play Bingo, playing cards, shooting pool and family board games. Family get-togethers were a special favorite of hers. Sheila enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and playing UNO with anyone willing to challenge her. She also enjoyed fishing and camping later in life.
Sheila loved country music, but it was the Bee Gees that held her heart. She enjoyed going for Sunday drives with Ronnie. She loved seeing the trees in the spring as they were just blooming, this reminded her of her childhood in southern Missouri. Family time was a great joy to Sheila. She had a love for cats, especially her cat, Sam.
Sheila will be greatly missed by her husband, Ron; children, Traci Deems (Tim Danielson), Stephanie Black (Nancy Nelson) and Shawna Fillmore (Craig Corbett); six grandchildren, Shane (Jennifer), Josh, Sara, Jessi, David and James (Emily); 12 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Debbie Rivers (Gregg) and Randall Richardson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles “Chuck” Richardson and Elaine.
