SCOTT HOTCHKIN

Scott Hotchkin, 27, of 711 E. 11th St. N., a lifelong resident of Jasper County, was dead on arrival at Skiff Memorial Hospital Thursday, March 14.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 18, at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

John Claussen of Pella will conduct services. Burial will be in Our Silent City Cemetery in Kellogg.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Saturday, march 16.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 17.

Memorials to a fund in Mrs. Hotchkin's name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Patty; three sons, Joshua, Jason and Jamie, all at home; four brothers and sisters, Van of Newton, Rod of Craig, Colo., Sami of Kellogg and Joni Berkenbosch of Newton; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Hotchkin of Kellogg.

Also surviving are his maternal grandmother, Ellen Deere of Newton and his paternal grandmother, Clara Smith of Newton.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Fred Deere, his paternal grandfather, Floyd Smith, and his paternal step-grandparents, Charles and Mary Hotchkin.

Mr. Hotchkin was a self-employed auto body repairman.

The son of Neil and Joyce Deere Hotchkin, he was born Jan. 9, 1958 at Iowa City and attended Kellogg and Newton schools.

He was married to Patty Ballentine June 18, 1976 in Newton.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

A Newton police investigation is currently underway in the early Tuesday morning death of Scott Hotchkin, 27, 711 E. 11th St. N. Carbon monoxide poisoining is believe to the the cause of death.
