Betty Irene Lint, 85, of Newton, died on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at MercyOne Newton Medical Center. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials in Betty’s name (checks made payable to Dennis Lint) may be left at the funeral home.

Betty, the daughter of Nettie (Castell) and Harry Heltzel, was born on a farm in Brooklyn, Iowa, on November 18, 1935. She grew up in Brooklyn but moved to Newton in the 1950s where she met her husband Donald D. Lint. They were married in Newton on January 12, 1953. Betty worked for many years in assembly at Maytag, while also spending time raising her children and taking care of the home. Throughout her life, Betty enjoyed quilting, camping, and even riding motorcycles with Donald.

Betty is survived by her husband, Donald Lint; her sons, Larry (RoxAnne) Lint of Newton, Dennis Lint of Ankeny, and Rick (Helen) Lint of Fair Oaks, California; grandchildren, Brandon, Katie, Nicholaas, Travis, Shawn, Jessica, Jeff, Danielle, Rachael, Jordan, Joe, Tim, and Maoqui; twenty great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her dog, Jacie. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary White and Joann Taylor.
