Death of Ray G. Hall
The death of Ray G. Hall occurred at his home in Mingo, Iowa, on Saturday, October 12th. He had been hospitalized for two weeks due to a heart ailment, and had been home from the hospital just one week when death ensued. He was 59 years of age.
The son of Charles and Lucy Hall, Ray was born at Valeria, Ia., on Jan. 30, 1898. For several years he followed the occupation of farming; worked for the Great Western railroad 12 years; in the ordinance plant at Ankeny 3 years. From 1945 until 1953 he operated a locker plant at Bondurant, then moved to Mingo where he engaged in the same business until the time of his death.
On March 24, 1920, he was united in marriage with Ruth Mary Eatwell. To this union were born five children: Mrs. Russell (Evelyn) Rippey of Baxter, Iowa; Mrs. Harold (Alice) Kohrs of Mingo, Ia.; Argie of Des Moines; Loyd of Minneapolis; LeRoy of Marion, Ia.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife, Ruth, his five children and five grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters: Mrs. Henry McKeever of Des Moines, Mrs. Wayne Sargeant of Maxwell; Mrs. George Altes of Mingo; one brother, Jay K. Hall of Bondurant. Iowa.
Ray was a civic-minded man and was given recognition by placing him in positions of leadership in the communities where he lived. While he lived in Bondurant he was a member of the city council and the fire department. In Mingo he occupied similar offices and was Chief of the fire department. By nature Ray was quiet, unassuming, industrious, and was well liked in business circles. Through his business relations he formed a wide circle of friends who hold him affectionately in high esteem.
Ray was a home-loving man and deeply devoted to the members of his family, toward whom he was always kind and considerate, meriting their reciprocal devotion. He was a sincere Christian man and held membership in Zion Evangelical Church which formerly was located near Mingo.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14th in the Mingo Methodist Church, with the minister, K. E. Nesbitt officiating. Music was by a quartet: Mrs. Howard Southern, Mrs. Louis Neal, Otho Hulse and Gene Leonard. In charge of flowers were Mrs. Dennis Cummings, Mrs. Eldon Geisler and Mrs. Dale Nickell. Burial was in the Graham cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Womeldorff, Louis Neal, Albert Toms, Joe Beem, Ralph Crozier, Glenn Noring. Organist was Mrs. Dale Harter.
