Mrs. Leonard McDonald Died in Des Moines Saturday
Mrs. Leonard McDonald, 27, died at the Des Moines General hospital Saturday following a cesarean operation. She had been suffering with a heart ailment following a goiter operation last summer.
Mrs. McDonald, remembered here as Berdine Frey, spent her early girlhood in this community, living with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Meckley after the death of her mother. She has been a resident of Des Moines since her marriage to Leonard Wood several years ago.
Besides her husband and the 4 pound, 13 ounce infant daughter, Berdine Diane, to whom she gave birth a short time before her death and another daughter, Donna, 2 ½ years, she is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Ruth Runyan of Cainsville, Mo., and Esther Frey of Colfax, Wayne Frey of Des Moines and Dale Frey of Detroit, her father, Lloyd Frey of Detroit and maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. S. Meckley of this city and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Claudie Frey of Farrar. Her mother, Myrtle Meckley Frey preceded her in death in 1930.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon in Des Moines with interment in the Rorabaugh cemetery beside her mother.
