Mitchellville Index, Sept. 23 – Died, at his home in Franklin township, Polk county, Iowa, Sept. 17, 1892, Hiram Battles, aged 54 years and 24 days. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church at Valeria and conducted by Rev. Picket, the pastor of the M.P. church.
