Ada Lucille "Lucille" Cossel
1931 - 2021

Ada Lucille Cossel, 90, the daughter of Arthur Glen and Verna Lucille (Chancelor) Woods, was born January 13, 1931, in Memphis, Missouri.

On June 12, 1948, Lucille was united in marriage with Raymond Cossel in Livonia, MO. She and Raymond moved to the Newton area in 1955. She worked for the Maytag Company for 23.5 years. She had attended the Newton Foursquare Church and Kingsway Cathedral in Des Moines. She always enjoyed time spent with The Solid Rock Church in Monroe. Lucille loved her family and devoted her life to them. She was very artistic, enjoying crocheting, hand stitching, needle work and music.

Lucille passed away on Wednesday morning, May 26, 2021, in Reasnor. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond in 1999; her sons: Lyle and Dean; a grandson Eric Swank; a sister Evelyn Garrett; a brother in infancy; and brothers: Eugene and Ivan Woods.

Funeral services for Lucille will be 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with a visitation one hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Lucille’s family, or to a charity of your choosing. Burial will be in the Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Those left to honor Lucille’s memory include her daughters: Darlene Swank of Gowrie; Dianna (Jerry) Rempp of Reasnor and Darla (Leon) Steenblock of Des Moines; her son Darrel (Vicki) Cossel of Des Moines; her thirteen grandchildren; her many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and her many friends.

Due to state and federal guidance on gatherings, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, facemasks are optional, but encouraged at the services.
