Curtis Shiffler, 56, Is Dead at Colfax
Colfax (Special) – Curtis H. Shiffler, 56, native of Jasper county, died at 10:30 p.m. Monday at his home in Colfax.
The son of Ellis and Bessie Shiffler, he was born north of Colfax in 1898. He was married Aug. 21, 1919, in Newton to Audrey Kern. A carpenter, he spent all his life near and in Colfax.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Bessie) Sally, Colfax; two sons, Gordon, Colfax, and Iden, Fairfield; a brother, Wayne, Starbuck, Minn.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Carroll Acton, Colfax, and Mrs. Ross Frasher, Ft. Lewis, Wis.; a stepmother, Mrs. Laura Shiffler, Colfax; and three grandchildren.
Funeral rites will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Colfax Christian church. Conducting the funeral will be the Rev. Frank Bobbitt, and burial will be in McKeever cemetery north of Colfax. Bumgardner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
