Oscar H. Perry, Baxter Resident, Dies at Age 65
Baxter (Special) – Oscar Harrison Perry, 65, retired farmer of Baxter, died yesterday at a Marshalltown hospital following an illness of one year.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at the Baxter Congregational church with Rev. Thomas B. Dixon officiating. Burial will be in Restland cemetery. The Boyd-Nickell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Perry lived in the Baxter community all of his life. He farmed until seven years ago when retired, and he and Mrs. Perry moved into Baxter.
Born at Rhodes on May 10, 1886, to Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Wilson Perry, he attended Jasper county rural schools. Mr. Perry was married to Lora Hennaman on Jan. 3, 1911, at Des Moines.
Survivors are his widow; four sons, Orvan, Lowell, Lloyd and Lester all of Baxter; two daughters, Mrs. Velma Schmidt of State Center and Mrs. Evelyn Runner of Laurel; 10 grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. John N. Jones of Greencastle, Mrs. Mattie Gipson and Mrs. James Kimberly of Baxter.
Providing music at the services Wednesday will be Mrs. Donald Poage and Mrs. Norman Kimberly, vocalist, and Mrs. Donnell Deutsch, organist. In charge of flowers will be Mrs. Raymond Holtsclaw, Mrs. Will Van Zante and Mrs. Hale Nickell.
Pallbearers will be Will Van Zante, Raymond Holtsclaw, Loy Holtsclaw, Charles Butler, Glen Butler and Ralph Kreager.
