Allen Bricker was born June 7th, 1841 and departed this life November 6th, 1926. He lived in Ohio until early manhood, coming from there to Tama county, Iowa. He came later to Jasper Co., and was united in marriage September 27th, 1877 to Maria Buckingham. To this union was born three children, Mrs. Fred Meacham of Rising Sun, Wallace Bricker of Hartford and John Bricker of Oregon.
Their married life was spent mainly on two farms, living in Jasper county twelve years and then on a farm in Polk county for twenty-six years, when they retired from farm life to Rising Sun in 1915. They lived in this home until the wife’s health failed a year ago last May, when they came to the daughter’s home, Mrs. Fred Meacham, west of Rising Sun. He has continued his home with her since the wife’s death August 12, 1925, spending part of the time with the son’s family near Hartford.
Death came sudden; he had been in his usual health and was the last one of a family of thirteen children. Besides the three children he leaves nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, some nephews and nieces and many friends.
The funeral services were held at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Meacham, Monday at 1:30 p.m., conducted by Bro. T. T. Nichols. Interment was made in the Vandalia cemetery.
