WHAT CHEER -- Marvin L. Gragg, 36, of What Cheer, formerly of Newton, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at Keokuk County Health Center in What Cheer.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with John DeBoef of Hilltop Chapel officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will be available. Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Marvin J. and Elizabeth A. (Williams) Gragg, he was born Jan. 22, 1968, in Iowa City. He lived in What Cheer for 12 years. Prior to that he lived in Newton and Jasper County for many years. He was a roofer for Deevers Roofing in Des Moines. He enjoyed working on cars.

Survivors include three sons, Marvin L. Gragg Jr. of Oskaloosa, Sammy Alderman of Arkansas and Danny Messerschmidt of Belle Plain; two daughters, Desairae Albertson of Arkansas and Danielle Hewitt of Grinnell; a step-son, Tucker Wagamon of What Cheer; a brother, Bill Gragg of What Cheer; a sister, Kim Runnels of Oskaloosa; his grandmother, Darlene Martin of Colfax; special friend, Whitney Wagamon; and his nieces and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by two grandfathers and one grandmother.
