Sherry L. Golik, 57, of Newton died Saturday, June 11, 2005, in the Monarch Wing of Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Newton Union Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Johnson of First Christian Church in Newton officiating. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

A time of fellowship with the family is planned after the service at the Moose Lodge in Newton beginning at 11:30 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society, the American Cancer Society or the Newton Food Bank and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of William G. "Bill" Albee and Kathleen J. Oldfield, she was born March 18, 1948, in Newton. She attended Newton schools and graduated in 1966. She was a factory worker for the Maytag Company for 26 years and was a member of the First Christian Church in Newton. She enjoyed watching the spring car races and spending time with her pets. She was a life-long resident of Newton.

Survivors include a son, Brett (Jennifer) Golik of Newton; step-father, Carroll Opperud of Newton; brother, William (Pam) Albee Jr. of Round Rock, Texas; two sisters, Linda (Burton) Breckenridge of Newton and Janet Brown of San Antonio, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
