Loretta J. Driskell, 56, of 400 W. 4 1/2 St. S. died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Larry Walker of Community of Heights Alliance Church officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call after 6 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in her name.

The daughter of Robert and Leona (Clark) Burk, she was born May 5, 1948, at Skiff Hospital in Newton. She graduated from Newton Senior High School. On Sept. 12, 1965, she married Michael Gene Driskell at St. John's Methodist Church in rural Newton. She was a homemaker and hairstylist. She enjoyed fishing and genealogy.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie J. (Driskell) and Joe Hartgers of Newton; two grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Minnie Hammond of Newton; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay and Jack Harger of Newton and Judi and Phillip Dearing of Kansas City, Mo.; and two brothers, Lester Dean Burk of Newton and Dennis Wayne Burk of Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Shawn Driskell; her father-in-law, George Driskell; a sister, Janet Chapman; and two brothers, Robert and Jack.
