Edith D. "Edy" (Powell) Dorow, 93, of Newton died Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at USA Healthcare -- Newton.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Roger Newman of Grace Lutheran Church in Oskaloosa officiating. Burial will be at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorials will be accepted to Episcopal Relief and Development to aid the Tsunami Victims and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of William and Myrtle (Peterson) Powell, she was born April 26, 1911, in Moravia. She graduated from Moravia High School. She worked in the factory at Winpower and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Newton. She married Herbert Dorow. She and her husband enjoyed bird watching and were members of the society. She also delivered meals on wheels and was a resident of Newton for 55 years.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William "Bill" and Janie Daughtrey of Kingman, Ariz., and John and Cheryl Daughtrey of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter and son-in-law, Aneta and Chuck Talbot of Centerville; and a sister, Beulah Burger of Centerville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers, Gerald, Dwight and Lester Powell.
