LEAWOOD, KAN. — Imogene Lavone Dimon, 79, of Leawood, Kan., formerly of Newton, died Monday, March 21, 2005, at Grace Gardens Retirement Center in Leawood, Kan.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Gary Marzolf of the First United Methodist Church in Newton officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to Newton Community Theatre or First United Methodist Church.

The daughter of Murray L. Bowen and Helen Vivian (Brumme) Bowen-Nelson, she was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Omaha, Neb. She was a 1943 graduate of Newton Senior High School. On Jan. 27, 1946, she married Ivan Max Dimon in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked for the Maytag Dairy Farms for more than 30 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church, church choir, bell choir, Newton Community Theatre, Jasper County Bowlers Association, PTA, Cub Scouts and Campfire Girls. She enjoyed cooking and providing food made from scratch for the holidays. She also enjoyed watching her grandchildren's sporting events and enjoyed singing, drawing and playing bridge.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steve Dimon of Hollywood, Calif., and Jeff and Maureen Dimon of Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Fred George of Newton; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a step-brother, Wilfred Nelson of Connecticut.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; step-father, Harvey Nelson; a son, David; a brother, Murray "Buck" Bowen; and two step-brothers, Harold and LeRoy Nelson.
