BAXTER — Del G. De Penning, 34, of Baxter, formerly of Newton, died in a work accident north of Newton on Wednesday, April 6, 2005.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Merle Smith of Skiff Medical Center in Newton officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be available from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorials for his family may be left at the funeral home.

The son of Robert G. De Penning and E. Valee De Greef, he was born June 8, 1970, in Tucson, Ariz. He graduated from Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, Colo., in 1989. On May 23, 1995, he married Janine M. Ohnemus in Las Vegas, Nev. He worked in the factory at the Maytag Company for eight years and worked for Nagel Construction for two weeks. He was a life member of the North American Hunting Club and enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. He lived in Jasper County for the past 11 years, living in Newton and Baxter.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Remington W. De Penning of Baxter; a daughter, Paige A. De Penning of Baxter; his mother and step-father, Valee and Art Wood of Colorado Springs, Colo.; his father, Robert G. De Penning of Lynnville; his maternal grandmother, Lucille De Greef of Newton; a brother, Duane G. De Penning of Portland, Ore.; and a niece, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Marthinus De Greef, and paternal grandparents, Marion and Mary De Penning.
