MONROE -- Joseph W. "Joe" Brown, 18, of Monroe died Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines as a result of injuries sustained in an auto accident.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at PCM High School in Monroe with the Rev. Ann Rouse, pastor of the Monroe Presbyterian Church, officiating. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials in his name may be left at the funeral home or at the school the morning of the service.

The son of Matt W. Brown and Cheryl J. Elliott, he was born Dec. 23, 1986, in Newton. He was a senior at PCM High School in Monroe and lived in Monroe his entire life. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his mother and step-father, Cheryl and David Willemsen of Monroe; his father, Matt Brown of Newton; a brother, Jacob Willemsen of Monroe; a sister, Brooke Willemsen of Monroe; his maternal grandmother, Charlotte Elliott of Newton; his paternal grandparents, Fred and Betty Brown of Newton; and several aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Quintin
