Lula M. Adams, 95, of 1015 W. Third St. S. died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at USA Health Care in Newton.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Tim Johnson of Newton First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted in her name or to the First Christian Church Youth Group.

The daughter of John Naylor and Evelena Splint-Cozad, she was born May 16, 1910, in Taintor. She was a high school graduate, and on Sept. 6, 1927, she married Byron Elihu Adams. She was the Jasper County Clerk of Court for 25 years and retied in 1976.

Mrs. Adams was a member of Newton First Christian Church, past president of Soropomist Club, T.T.T. past member, White Shrine in Newton and 50-year member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing bridge and was in several card clubs.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Lou (Gene) Buckley of Monroe, and a brother, Landon Kenneth Cozad of San diego, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Cieland Grant Cozad; and a sister, Beulah Grace Porter.
