Mary Hanora Woods, 87, of Newton, died Friday, Jan. 30 at her home.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with Father Phil Cardenzana officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 3 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the family present. Burial will be at the Slagel Cemetery in rural Newton. Memorials may be made in her name.

Mrs. Woods was born May 1, 1916 in Sydney, Australia, the daughter of Richard John Hart and Mary Ann Casey Hart. She graduated from St. Aidens Catholic School in Maroubra, Australia. She was united in marriage to Maurice Dale Woods on June 1, 1946 in Maroubra, Australia. She was a homemaker and worked in a candy factory in Sydney, Australia and in an overall factory in Oskaloosa. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton.

She is survived by a son, Marvin Woods of Newton; a daughter, Maureen C. Woods of Newton; and several nieces and nephews in Australia.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
