COLFAX -- Loren Wing, 86, of Colfax died Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Mitchell Village in Mitchellville.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Colfax with the Rev. Phil Butler and the Rev. Dan DuRocher officiating. Burial will be in McKeever Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday after 2 p.m. at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax where the family will be available from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials will be accepted to First Baptist Church.

The son of Walter Leroy and Anna (Ferguson) wing, he was born May 2, 1917, in Knox County, Mo. He graduated from Knoxville High School and attended Central College. He taught school in Otley for several years. On Feb. 7, 1941, he married Mildred Maddy in Pleasantville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church for more than 50 years and he served as a trustee, deacon, Sunday School superintendent and Awana commander. He also served as a 4-H leader, Jasper County Fair director, school board secretary, sports referee, Area 6 Guernsey director, dairy cattle judge, served on the Mid-American Dairymen Board and on various school committees. Mr. wing lived in the Colfax area for many years where he raised registered Guernsey cattle and farmed.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lila and Robert Maher of Colfax and Marilyn and Michael Kintz of Elk Grove, Calif.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Marlin and Lael Wing and Darrell and Darla Wing, all of Colfax, and David and Theresa Wing of Des Moines; 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty Stanton Metcalf of Knoxville; and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gale and Leona Wing of Prairie City and Jack and Marge Wing of Winter Park, Fla.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Walter.
