Thelma Wilcox, 88, of Newton died Tuesday, Feb. 17, at USA Healthcare -- Newton.

Graveside services were held today at 2 p.m. at Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton with the Rev. David Wendel officiating. Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton handled arrangements.

Memorials will be accepted to the courtyard project at USA Healthcare -- Newton and may be left at the funeral home.

The daughter of Henry and Estella (Buchanan) Umbarger, she was born Dec. 19, 1915, in Millard, Mo. On Dec. 31, 1932, she married Lyle Wilcox in Lancaster, Mo. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and worked for the Vernon Company. She was a resident of Newton for 60 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Joanne Victorine and Sandra Altemeier, both of Newton, and Diane Ades of Casey; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter, a great-grandson and seven brothers and sisters.
