“Little Bobby” Mott Passes Away Suddenly
The friends of the Carl Mott family and relatives were shocked last Tuesday to learn of the death of their little three year old son, Robert after an illness of but two days. Sunday, August 20, he was playing about the home and in a fall broke the skin on his arm, the wound was affected by blood poison and he was taken to the Lutheran hospital where he died, Tuesday, August 22nd. His sudden taking has been a severe shock to his parents and the entire community sympathizes with the heart broken family.
Robert Carl Mott, was born October 24, 1930 and departed this life August 22, 1933 at the Iowa Lutheran hospital. He leaves to mourn his loss a mother, father and sister Helen. Also grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Mott and Mrs. Bertha Hershey, along with numerous relatives and friends who knew him as “sweet little Bobby”.
Funeral services were conducted from the Vandalia Church, Thursday afternoon, August 24, 1933, at 2 o’clock, by elder Henry Castings, of Des Moines, assisted by Elder Clyde McDonald, following which the little body was laid to rest in the Vandalia cemetery. Mrs. hazel McKinney, Mrs. Anna Cline and Don McCullom sang “Going Down the Valley”, “Sweet Bye and Bye” and “Beautiful City of Gold” with Grace Wilson presiding at the piano.
