Patsey Fay Woolard, 87, of Newton died on Monday, January 11, 2021, at her daughter’s house in Pleasant Hill. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials to the American Cancer Society may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Patsey, the daughter of Fredrick and Dora (Osburn) Newsom, was born on September 16, 1933 in Dardanelle County, Arkansas. As a child her family moved to Louisiana. After the death of her father, her mother was remarried and her step-father’s military career required living in Texas, Alaska, Hawaii, and California. Patsey graduated from high school in Fairbanks, Alaska. She was united in marriage with William Woolard. Patsey went to secretary college in California and worked as a legal secretary at many law offices and also for Litton Industries. During her time at Litton, they had a defense contract with the U.S. Navy to build at that time what was the largest aircraft carrier. After retirement, Patsey and William moved to North Carolina. Patsey was a talented landscape and portrait artist. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed watching birds. In 2005, Patsey moved to Iowa.

Patsey is survived by her children, Michael Tuttle of Newton, Dora (James) Lane of Pleasant Hill, and Fredrick (Connie) Woolard of Fleetwood, North Carolina; step-daughter, Suzy (David) Biskner of Royal Oak, Michigan; her grandchildren, Abigail Lane and Janet Sherman; great-grandchild, Marloe; and brother, Samuel (Kathy) Flannagan of California. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Woolard; step-sons, William H. Woolard and Russell Woolard; and a sister, Boneze Sanford.
