Herman Stierneman, son of Jacob Stierneman and Maria Catar was born November 9, 1881 and passed away at his home at Otley, September 18, 1946 at the age of 64 years, 10 months and 9 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers John and Simon and one sister, Minnie Baker. He leaves to mourn his passing, two nephews, Jacob Stierneman of Otley and Lion Baker of Des Moines and a niece Helen Barr of Monroe.
He had spent his entire life in Otley where he had been in the mail service for the last 38 years. He also worked in the blacksmith shop.
He was everyone’s friend and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held at the Otley Reformed Church on September 20 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Fred Van Houton of Oskaloosa conducting the services assisted by Rev. J. W. Visser of the Christian Reformed Church. Burial was in the Monroe cemetery.
