Monroe News – Funeral services for Mrs. Roy D. Vander Waal, 50, of Newton was held Wednesday afternoon, December 11, at the Crumpacker Funeral home in Monroe. Mrs. Vander Waal who had been in poor health for the past several years passed away Monday, December 9, at her home in Newton. She is survived by her husband and one son Rawleigh DeWitt Vander Waal, and five sisters, Mrs. M. Bristow, Mrs. Ellis Dyer, and Mrs. Tommie Smith, all of Pleasantville, Iowa, Mrs. Pearl Litchfield, Dallas, Texas and Mrs. Bert Leutsinger of Des Moines. Rev. C. E. Sharer, pastor of the Baptist Church in charge of the services. Pallbearers wee American Legion members. They were Ralph Rinehart, Leo Sweeney, J. D. Long, Bennett Corr, Dick Vander Werf and Gerrit Kersbergen.
