James Jefferies, well known thru-out this section of Iowa, died at his home in Prairie City on Sunday, May 9, 1926 at 4:40 a.m. The funeral services were conducted last Monday afternoon. Interment in Vandalia cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Awtry and Mr. and Mrs. John Varenkamp attended the funeral from this place. The deceased was an uncle of Mrs. Harry Awtry.
