Eldon Duane Marshall, age 84 of Monroe passed away December 3, 2020 at MercyOne in Des Moines. The son of John Orval and Mary (Vander Schel) Marshall was born on September 13, 1936. He was married to Coral Lee Simbro on June 5,1954 in Monroe. He worked at PAG Seeds, drove a milk truck and worked a number years at the Newton Correctional Facility as farm manager and in maintenance. He was involved in the construction of medium site at the Correctional Facility.

In his younger years, he enjoyed riding horses with his children going to many horse shows and on trail rides with the horses all loaded in old GMC truck. For many years, his home has been the home base for family deer hunting along with many friends picked up a long way. You could count on a big meal and tall tales. He enjoyed spending time at the slots at Prairie Meadows and lottery tickets.

His greatest joy and life-long passion was farming. Until his hospitalization he was outside working and puttering around the farm. He enjoyed spending time with his family sitting at his end of the kitchen table drinking coffee and smoking his pipe while his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren visited.

and his special sidekicks-Tuff and Jake. Also surviving is his sister in law, Mary Simbro and many nieces and nephews. Eldon was preceded in death by his wife Coral Lee in 2003, his siblings and in laws. Bonnie (Wayne) Ryther, Leroy (Dorothy) Marshall, Patricia (Clifford) Simbro, Norma (Walter) Hannam and Bernard Simbro.

Private family graveside services will be held at Dunreath Cemetery. A visitation will be open to the public on Monday, December 7, 2020 from 11:30 - 1:30 pm at Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe. The family will not be present during this time and masks are required.
