Elvira Circilla (Woodard) Brown
Elvira Circilla Woodard was born on June 3, 1840, in Ohio, and passed from this life on January 14, 1916, at the home of her daughter in Havelock, Nebraska.
She was married December, 1856, at Cherry Valley, Illinois, to Adam Wesley Brown, who died on September 16, 1911, at the age of 77 years.
To them were born three children: Martin Wesley Brown of Boone, Iowa; Cynthia Isabelle Wolverton of Havelock, Nebraska; Leila Gertrude Leach of Iowa Falls, Iowa. Besides these there remain eight grandchildren and a niece, Mrs. Birdie Pepham of Marysville, Missouri, and a large circle of neighbors and friends to mourn their loss.
Mrs. Brown was an old resident of Iowa, having been in the state about fifty years, and a greater part of that time was spent here in Kellogg.
She was a charter member of the Eastern Star Order and a faithful and energetic worker.
Ever a devoted mother and a loving friend and a tireless worker in all she undertook, she will be greatly missed, but the kindliness of her life will be held in sweet memory through the years.
The body arrived from Nebraska on Saturday night, and the funeral was held from her late home on Monday afternoon. A brief service was conducted by Rev. A. V. Hart, pastor of the Christian church, which was followed with the beautiful funeral services of the O. E. S. under the leadership of Mr. C. T. Powers.
The floral offerings were profuse and very beautiful; a tribute place upon the casket by those who loved the sleeper.
The interment took place in the Kellogg cemetery, where she rests by the side of her husband.
