Mary Lou Brindza
1927 - 2020

Mary Lou Brindza, the daughter of Joseph Henry and Sara Edna (Arends) Depperman, was born July 21, 1927, in Newton, Iowa. On June 25, 1949, Mary Lou was united in marriage with Francis Michael Brindza in Johnstown, PA. Mary Lou was a Registered Nurse and worked for Skiff Hospital and Medical Associates in Newton, IA. Mary Lou was active in her kids' lives. She was involved in PTA, Bluebirds, Campfire Girls, and 4-H. Mary Lou was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was involved in the Sacred Heart Society, hospitality, Eucharistic Minister and CCD Instructor.

Mary Lou died on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Newton Village in Newton, Iowa. She was 93 years old. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Frank, on July 24, 2018; a son, Michael Francis Brindza; and her brother, James Depperman.

Those left to honor Mary Lou's memory include her daughters, Linda (Greg) O'Toole, Patricia (Dave) Hoff, Carol Brindza, Barbara (Mike) Mickelson; her twelve grandchildren, Michael Brindza, Jason (Summer) Brindza, Shawn Brindza, Vanessa (Chad) Wunderlich, Jeremy (Megan) Cook, Whitney (Matt) Welp, Rachel (Tyler) Christensen, Jeffrey (Heather) O'Toole, Ryan (Maggie) O'Toole, Christopher (Jordan) Hoff, Elizabeth (Drew) Klein, Jennifer (Craig) Weber; her nineteen great grandchildren: Mikey, Ashley, Trinity, Lane, Hannah, Bishop Rose, Cameron, Madilynn, Lauren, Sebastian, Lilah, Blake, Lucas, Lex, Marek, Dominic, Harrison, Wyatt, Bennett; her sister, Doris Bacher and a sister-in-law, Betty Rozich-Kinnel.

A time of visitation with Mary Lou's children will be held from 4:00 until 6:00 pm Sunday at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton. Social distancing will be observed, and masks are highly encouraged. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 am Monday morning at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Again, social distancing will be observed, and masks are required. A Facebook Live broadcast will be available on the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home and Cremation Services Facebook page. Memorials may be designated to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Newton Village, or the Pregnancy Center of Central Iowa and may be left at the church or at Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home.
