Harry C. Lewis Rites Scheduled For Wednesday
Colfax – Funeral services for Harry C. Lewis, 77, of Polk City, a former longtime resident of Colfax, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.
The Rev. Clinton Johnson, pastor of the Colfax Baptist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery, north of Colfax.
Memorial contributions to the Heart Fund will be accepted.
He died Sunday evening at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.
Survivors are his wife, Alice; two sons, Clifford of Ankeny and Darwin of Mitchellville; a daughter, Edith Shepley of Cass Lake, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dan and Alex, both of Colfax; and a sister, Margaret Hill of Colfax.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Harry; a great-granddaughter, six brothers; and a sister.
Mr. Lewis was a retired employee of John Deere Co. in Ankeny.
The son of Griffith and Florence Walker Lewis, he was born March 11, 1904 in Colfax and attended rural Colfax schools.
He was married to Alice Marie Warrick Oct. 10, 1925 in Des Moines.
