Colfax (Special to The Daily News) – Minnie E. Martindale, daughter of Lieut. George E. and Margaret Rieman Martindale, was born in Greencastle, Ia. Her early life was spent on the farm of her step father William M. Boyd.
She was engaged in the millinery business in Atlantic, Ia., later moving to Chicago, Ill., where she established a large clientele of millinery customers dating over a period of 42 years.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Chicago and took much pleasure in the services of this church and its far reaching ministry. Failing health forced her to give up her business activities and on Sept. 1, 1939, she came to the home of her sisters, Mrs. Burtress Baker and Mrs. Dota Boyd Falcon, where she was cared for until her death on Sunday night, Nov. 5, 1939.
Those who survive her are: brothers, Dr. F. E. Boyd of Colfax, H. C. Boyd of Mason City, L. J. Boyd of Los Angeles, Cal.; her sisters, Mrs. Ella Lacey of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Burtress Baker and Mrs. Dota Falcon of Colfax and Mrs. Edward D. Boyd of Des Moines, a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 7, from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Falcon with Dr. Theodore Morning of Des Moines officiating.
Music was furnished by Mrs. Earl Plummer and Mrs. E. B. Shissler with Mrs. George Rinker accompanist.
Pallbearers were L. B. Everett, H. E. Bell, B. A. Brown, S. E. Tennant, Earl Plummer and B. F. Van Dyke.
Burial was in the McKeever cemetery north of Colfax.
